Learn a little about us from this Q&A (from before we opened)

Kenny and Jennifer Graley are opening a brewery!

Kenny started brewing at home many moons ago and Jennifer supported his journey into the craft. The hobby grew to become a whole-family effort and well... here we are!

It turns out that love and beer go well together!

What is "Charleston Nano Brewery?"

We're focused on brewing small batches of craft beverages on site. We appreciate the full catalog of beer styles, so we hope you'll always find something new for you on tap at Charleston Nano.

We're also a family-owned business and we're keenly focused on being a family-friendly establishment ourselves. We plan on offering customers with kids a fun place to play board games and to enjoy our own non-alcoholic root beers.

We want Charleston Nano to be a business that's involved in the community, focused on brewing education, and a great place for people to enjoy beer and each other. We want anyone to feel welcome at Charleston Nano!

Where will you be located?

We've been really fortunate to find a location in a revitalized part of Charleston known as the "Elk City Historic District." It's within a stone's throw of I-64 and nestled among amazing local restaurants like Gonzo Burger, Books and Brews and Mi Cocina de Amor. Kinship Goods is a cozy life-style goods brand right around the corner that you'll only find in Charleston and online. There's also The Bullock Distillery right down the street that recently opened to much fanfare!

We can't name them all here, but you need to know that there's so much more to enjoy in Elk City. Needless to say, this is a really cool part of Charleston that we're very excited to serve customers in.

How did you get into brewing?

Kenny started brewing beer like many hobbyists – at home! After two years of brewing by himself at home, Kenny joined the Greater Huntington Homebrewers Association. "The members at GHHA were great and I really learned a lot from that club. There's so much knowledge in homebrew clubs and if you're interested in the craft, I recommend joining one early on. They could've saved me a lot of trouble in those first few years!"

More recently Kenny joined the Kanawha Valley Homebrew Club. "The KVHC is really focused on learning the craft and you can tell they really care about the needs of their members. The KVHC membership is full of great people. We have a tasting-circle format in meetings that lets people give members feedback on brews anonymously on our website. That's unique in a club and is helpful if you want to improve your beer-making. If you're interested in learning you should attend a club meeting!"

What kinds of beer will you serve?

We'll have a little of everything. IPAs, Pale Ales, Stouts, Bitters, Sours, Kolsch, Brown Ales, and Hazies (New England IPAs) are all on the menu. We'll be releasing a tap list as we get closer to opening. You can subscribe to our Nano Club mailing list or like us on Facebook to know first!
